One of the best ways of keeping thieves out of your luggage, be that suitcases, or travel bags is to use a luggage strap, that can be locked with a short code. Many people think exactly the same, and that of course can be a problem, when you get to the baggage claim area.
As the bags come around, many of these straps look pretty much the same. That of course makes it hard to see which actual bags belong to you. A simple solution for this is to have a personalised luggage strap, with your name on it. Suddenly the quick identification problem goes away for you while others wait to get a closer look.
Good Quality Luggage Straps
You can buy ridiculously cheap versions of these, and they usually come in packs of 2 or 3. The quality of those are just dreadful. A single strap that is of good quality should cost about £4-5. Now I would have no problem spending that on a strap that will keep my suitcase protected. It will last you for ages, and that for me, is worth spending the extra £1 or so.
Lockable Using a Code
Now my personal preference is a personalised strap that can lock, and only be unlocked with a 3-digit code. They are however more expensive and will set you back around £12-15 per strap.

There is only a choice of 2 colours, red or blue
The strap measures 180 x 3 cms and made from Polypropylene
Please note they close using a hard plastic buckle and do not have a lock.

This is a very good value for money option as this is a pack of luggage straps in 4 different colours, pink, orange, lime green and pale blue
Each luggage strap measures 200 x 5 cm
They use a buckle to connect but please be aware these straps do not have a lock of any kind
These are suitable for 20-32" suitcases only and not suitable for smaller cases.

You can of course buy luggage straps that are not personalised, but by adding some sort of personal identification will make your life much easier.
