We have mentioned luggage scales a few times so we thought we had better do some reviews on the best scales for weighing luggage that are currently available in the UK market. Below we have placed in order the best selling and the best rated scales.
Freetoo Luggage Scale Portable
This is the number one best selling portable luggage scale on Amazon. It is also really light in weight, (just 90 grams) which means that you can throw it into your suitcase, and take it with you on holidays.
If you are one of those people, and I am, who tend to shop when on holidays, the biggest problem is knowing what weight you are bringing back to the UK. Those gifts for the family and items for the house can quickly add up.
These will help you avoid the insane overweight charges at the airport.
This one can measure up to 50 Kg (110 lbs), has an easy to read digital display. It also comes with a great guarantee and is currently the best seller on Amazon. There is also an automatic shut off which helps preserve the life of the batteries.
It costs under £8 and has a buyer satisfaction rating of 95%, and that is an impressive rating.
Luggage Scale MYCARBON
Another popular choice and high selling product is this set from the My Carbon company. These work well to weigh either hand luggage or the larger suitcases. They have an LED display that is very easy to read, even in the dark.
They operate using a small digital battery that lasts for a long time. The newer battery is an improved version and this one works much better. These scales can measure up to 50 Kg (110 lbs) with graduations of 0.1 lb.
They cost under £8 and they have a buyer satisfaction rating of 90% which is a very good rating.
Pixnor Portable T-shaped LCD Digital Electronic Scales
For under £9 you will find this set of scales very hard to beat for price and value. These can weigh up to 50Kg and are accurate to within just 10 grams which is extremely good.
We think this one is just simply the best on the market right now. It is small and really simple to use and works like a treat. It uses a tape system and because of that you can also use it to weigh other odd shaped objects, even bicycles.
It comes with a built-in torch, which some people found useful, but personally I just don’t get, but hey, each to their own. It also has a thermometer but why it has this I just don’t know.
I do like the easy to read LED display and that fact that when compared to the actual scales at the airports this one is very accurate. I was initially a little sceptical as the handle was plastic, but it is as tough as old boots. The bottom line is this works great.
Duronic LS1008 Digital Luggage Scales
These are also very highly rated by plenty of buyers over at Amazon and costs just under £10. Now I own the one above and I really like them. However there are plenty of people who also like these a lot and I have to say they do look really good.
They have been very well designed as you can see, and more importantly, are very high quality. They also come with the straps and the batteries so ready to use instantly. Out of all of the scales you will find on this page, these are the most comfortable to use.
When you are trying to lift a 20 Kg case off the floor with one hand and read the scales, it is tough enough to do. The handle on these has been really well designed to not hurt your fingers, and is designed for easy gripping. These can weigh up to 50 Kg and are very accurate.
The display itself is on top of the handle so really easy to see. Have a look at the image to the right and you will see what I mean by that.
Buyers of this product rate it at 4.6 out of 5 stars which is very high and that is from over 700 buyers, so it has remained really consistent over time….always a very good sign.
All you need to do is attach the case using the strap provided, lift the case off the floor, and then push the button on the top to get a reading. You could also take this one with you on holidays as it is very light.
Digiflex Digital Hanging Weighing Scales
For under £4 this one is a popular choice, though we don’t think it is as good as the one above. That said it does the job and is also used by many fishermen to weigh their catch. It can measure up to 40 Kg and is accurate to within 20 grams which is pretty good.
The hook and the handle are pretty small so it can be a bit of a pain to try and get your case hooked on, and also sore on the fingers when lifting the case. Use something like a brush to avoid that pain.
It is cheap though, accurate and the display is easy to read. It works off 2 x AAA batteries so don’t forget those. It will do the job and is cheap and cheerful.
Digital Luggage Scales Travel T-Shape
These are also around £4 and we think a great deal easier to use and certainly more comfortable on the hands. They can handle up to 40 Kg like the set above.
You can see from the way they are made that attaching the case is pretty simple. You then have a decent handle to be able to lift the suitcase off the ground. They are simple to use, compact and accurate. It comes supplied with a battery and are a nice simple set of scales.
Because they are light in weight, you can also take them with you so as you can measure the weight of your luggage on the return journey
That concludes our mini reviews on the best luggage scales for travelling. We trust that you found this useful and you are at least, a little better informed.
